| St Thibéry is a typical French working village, situated among the vines, just a 15 minute drive from the eight-mile long golden Mediterranean Plage de la Corniche. Originally named Cessero (the name of the local wine) by the Romans, it was renamed in honour of Saint Thibéry by Benedictine monks in the 9th century. A Roman festival is held every August, with Gladiators, Son et Lumière, and a banquet in the market square. The village has two boulangeries, a small supermarché, a bar and restaurant within a short walk, however a car is really recommended to take full advantage of all there is to see and to do in this beautiful region. | ||||||||||||||

Closer to the village, call at a local boulangerie or farmers market in the morning to buy your picnic lunch, take a boat or cycle along the Canal du Midi, enjoy a game of boules later in the village, later still dine at home or nearby or in a neighbouring village, or a short drive away at a Michelin star restaurant in Marseillan, or perhaps at an accordion restaurant on the canal watching the boats as they drift by.
Here you can enjoy the leisurely pace of village life to the full, as well as taking advantage of St Thibéry's location to explore the numerous historic, cultural and gastronomic surprises of the unspoilt Languedoc. |
